Camping season is not far off and the GSSEM crew is preparing a season of fun and excitement as only Girl Scouts can!

Here are 4 camp-tastic reasons to register today for GSSEM’s 2025 summer camp season!

1. Specialty Camps

GSSEM offers a variety of unique experiences sure to appeal to campers looking to go beyond hikes and campfires. In addition to detailed activities based on specialties, campers will also have time to enjoy traditional camp fun!

Some special summer sessions include:

Wilderness Explorers June 22-27

Girl Scouts in 4-8 grade will have a wild time learning about the great outdoors when troops camp like junior park rangers during Wilderness Explorers camp! They’ll hike, build fires, learn Leave No Trace practices, go animal tracking, and more.

Bullseye Sharp Shooters July 13-18

Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will practice their aim with target sports until they’re getting bullseyes every time! Learn and improve techniques on activities including slingshots, archery, BB guns, and axe throwing!

Find all the GSSEM summer fun at www.gssem.org/camps!

2. Weeks’ Worth of Themed Fun

Yes, the campfire, s’mores and songs are still part of the experience, but GSSEM has added a bit of flair to mix things up a bit for special, themed weeks! Summer themes include:

  • Survivor Camp – Learn fire building, outdoor cooking, first aid and more, while participating in team challenges and competitions just like your favorite Survivors!
  • Summerween – Girl Scouts will have a spooky-fun time during this special Halloween camp session.
  • Camp Olympics – Practice sportsmanship, compete for the gold in camp games, and enjoy traditional camp activities with an Olympic twist.

3. Marvelous Mini Camps

Introduce younger Girl Scouts to camping with Mini-Camps, happening all summer long. Each overnight Mini Camp runs for three days, Sunday-Wednesday. This is great for first-time campers (and parents) who would like to experience camping on their own but might not be ready for a full week away from home. Just right for Girl Scouts in 2-5 grade.

4. Did Someone Say Giddy Up?

Saddle up for five days of giddy up fun when horse camp gallops back to Camp Hawthorn Hollow!

Girl Scouts in grades 6-12 will learn basic riding skills, grooming techniques, stable management and much more. When not at the equestrian center at Rattle Run Farms in St. Clair, campers will enjoy activities including hikes, campfire songs and other traditional camp fun.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
