A Journal of Celebration and Reflection

What Destiny Did

For her Gold Award project, Destiny designed A Journal of Celebration and Reflection for young adults. With prompts and activities, the journal is a resource for positive journaling and way for people to celebrate themselves.

Destiny was inspired to do her Take Action project when she noticed unhealthy mental health behavior from her school community, including suicide. Knowing how journaling helped her gain a more positive outlook, Destiny decided to draft her own version.

She had more than 150 hard copies of the journal printed and distributed free to students and adults. When word of her project spread and she was receiving more requests than she had journals, she put A Journal of Celebration and Reflection online. The slightly modified version is available so anyone can print it and benefit from it.

What She Learned

Destiny believes her journal project was able to help put individuals on the road to gaining self-love, confidence, and individuality, while improving their self-appreciation.

“I hope that more people will continue to celebrate themselves, turn their negatives into positives, and find a way to not compare themselves to people anymore,” she said.

Achieving the Gold Award taught Destiny the importance of time and project management. She also realized the benefits of honing her public speaking skills while she promoted her publication.

Destiny graduated from North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, MI. She was a member of Troop 75343 then became a Juliette Girl Scout.
