They say amazing things can be found in a simple square foot of nature. This week, 19 Girl Scouts opened their eyes to the fascinating world of bugs as they journeyed along the shores of the Detroit River. Not only did they learn about life from a new perspective, but they earned a patch while doing it too!
Walking along the Detroit River in Trenton, MI, girls started out by going on a bug hike where they were able to test out a bug net and catch a few of their own bugs, so they could get an up close and personal look at the creepy crawlies. Some girls even opted to build bug hotels to take back home! For those feelings extra daring, millipedes, giant hissing cockroach and eastern lubber grasshoppers (to name a few) were available to handle.
