Volunteer Spotlight: Allison Whitmer

Allison Whitmer is a current Troop Leader out of Service Unit 0603, with no plans on letting up. As a “troop mom,” she has worked her way to other Girl Scout volunteer roles, including Girl Scout School Liaison and Troop Product Program Manager. She (and us too!) are excited to see what’s next for her girls.

Allison says that her reason for becoming a Girl Scout Troop Leader was very simple: her daughter wanted to join Girl Scouts. Shortly after learning this, Daisy Troop 77226 was formed. Now the troop is on their way to becoming Brownies. Over the past couple years, Allison has gotten to see the girls grow and achieve more than they ever thought—it’s her favorite part of the “job.” As the 2021-22 membership year begins, this Troop Leader says her troop’s current goals are trying to achieve as many badges as they can, but simply seeing the girls each week makes it all worth it.

Advice for aspiring Troop Leaders: “Just roll with the punches.”

Thank you, Allison!

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
