You never know when or where you’ll discover your passion. When her daughter first mentioned becoming a Girl Scout, volunteer Raven Gregory-Simmons had no idea how involved she would become and how much she would enjoy it.
Not wanting to disappoint her daughter, Raven raised her hand when another co-leader was needed. That was all it took for her to fall in love with the experience.
Raven wasn’t in Girl Scouts as a child and was thrilled to discover the countless opportunities it offers her daughter, troop, and other young girls. Every time her troop meets, she strives to give her girls an incredible Girl Scout experience, and she’s excited to share the ins and outs of what to expect at the beginning of every membership year.
In addition to spending quality time with her daughter, one of her favorite parts of being a troop leader is knowing each year holds new experiences, joys, and challenges. “Giving girls an opportunity to try new things every time you meet, it’s all worth it,” she believes.
“The joy we get being together and doing such fun things is amazing,” she said.
“My favorite part of Girls Scouts is helping a new generation of little girls learn, experience, and enjoy new things and ideas.”
