Marathon Petroleum’s Generous Donation Contributes to keeping more than 200 girls connected with Girl Scouts this summer

Last month, Marathon Petroleum donated $4980 to Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM). The money will go towards program kits for girls that participate in GSSEM’s Girl Engagement Initiative (GEI) in the Southwest, Flint, and Downriver communities. This comes at a time where staying engaged and connected is more important than ever.

Girls will receive the kits, per Girl Scout level, in the mail full of materials, directions, and activities, towards earning two badges and one patch. All levels will also receive a multi-level kit, with items to complete GSSEM’s GO! Challenge. Badges focus on safe outdoor activities, completing activities such as growing a flower from a seed, identifying outdoor sounds, learning about “Leave No Trace” principles through artwork, and creating dyes out of natural items around their homes and yards.

A second program kit will be sent out July 2020.

Thanks to Marathon Petroleum for helping to further the Girl Scout mission. As an organization and community, we strive to uplift and support girls, no matter what leadership path they choose to take.

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.
