GSSEM celebrates Volunteer Appreciation Month

Next to the girls themselves, our volunteers are the most important people at GSSEM.

Without their hard work, effort, and love for all things Girl Scouts, we would not be able to offer all the impactful programming and educational opportunities that help propel girls above and beyond.

GSSEM staff distributed dozens of appreciation awards to volunteers and businesses who supported the Girl Scout Mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

In 2024, 41 exceptional people received a GSSEM Volunteer of Excellence award which recognizes those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls. Most of those honored are long-time troop leaders, who have also held multiple other troop positions including treasurer, event coordinator, mentor, and more.

An Appreciation Pin was awarded to 14 women for going above and beyond the expectations for the position held and making an impact on a geographic area within our council’s jurisdiction. The Honor Pin was given to 11 volunteers who helped GSSEM reach and exceed mission-delivery goals.

It wouldn’t have been a Girl Scout event if there wasn’t a badge involved. Two women were presented the Thanks Badge, to commemorate their outstanding service that benefited the total council or the entire Girl Scout organization and is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award would be appropriate.

Our volunteers give so much of themselves in support of our mission. The annual Volunteer National Awards Banquet gives us an opportunity to celebrate our volunteers’ contributions to the Girl Scout Movement, whether their impact is global, regional, or in their community.
