Celebrating National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend

Celebrating National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend

Thanks to Exploremores™, the newest Girl Scout Cookie flavor, and mild weather, cookie booths were busy across metro Detroit on opening weekend.

People were excited to get a chance to try the new flavor while stocking up on favorites like Thin Mints, Samoas and Do-Si-Dos.

Fun Girl Scout Cookie facts

  • SSEM Girl Scouts sold 609,850 boxes of Thin Mints last year.
  • The Samoa was invented in 1974.
  • Exploremores™ is the 45th cookie introduced to the lineup.
  • It takes three years to develop a new cookie. (Psst, GSUSA and Little Brownie Bakers is already working on a new cookie of 2029.)

New ways to enjoy

GSSEM’s Cookies and Milk Dessert Showcase is getting a lot of mention on social media and in the press!

This troop-led promotion pairs a troop with a local business to develop delicious new takes on enjoying Girl Scout cookies.

Girl Scout-inspired cheesecakes from The Cheesecake Ladies?  Samoa Parfait or a Thin Mint flurry from Charlie Browns Ice Cream and Restaurant? The promotion has definitely caught the attention and tastebuds of Girl Scout Cookie fans! Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/gssem for special announcements about participating places!

Do you know a restaurant that would be interested in participating in the showcase? Find out more information at  Cookie Seller Resources | Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan.
