The annual GSSEM Bronze Awards was a celebration of the hard work, troop effort, and learning for all Bronze Award Girl Scouts who earned the award
This year Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan proudly recognized 190 Bronze Award Girl Scouts.
Held at Macomb Community College John Lewis Conference Center, in Warren, the college setting offered plenty of space for troops to set up displays about their Bronze Awards projects.

Did you hear about these three Bronze Award projects?
Smart Cookies– One troop created a World Thinking Day event to educate sister troops about caring for the environment, promoting recycling and reducing food waste.
Bat’er Up- One troop distributed bat boxes they built themselves to share the importance of bats and pollinator garden kits to promote awareness about bees.
Pet Supplies, Plus- Then there was the troop that encouraged adoption from their local humane society while making blankets and toys for shelter animals.
Motivating Younger Girl Scouts

Younger Girl Scouts at the celebration were treated to inspirational messaging from two older Girl Scouts.
Jasmine Hunley, a Girl Scout Ambassador, shared how working on her Highest Award led her to representing GSSEM as a delegate to the UN 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
“Just the process of getting my Gold Award project proposal approved helped me develop skills in project management, leadership, and advocacy,” she said. Those skills impressed the UN selection committee.
Soren O’Dell joined Jasmine at the awards podium and told the younger Girl Scouts how being a Girl Scout can be life changing.
“It is experiences like going to the UN that make me so glad I became a Girl Scout,” she said. “Girl Scouting is meant to be like this trip- inspiring, motivating, and empowering.”
“As you continue to grow and progress along your Girl Scout journey, keep in mind this saying from one of my favorite environmentalists: “You cannot do all the good the world needs, but the world needs all the good you can do.”
