Volunteer Spotlight: Amber Prindle

Volunteer Spotlight: Amber Prindle

Amber Prindle, with Troop 77615 out of Macomb, decided that if she was going to volunteer as a troop co-leader/leader, she was going to do more than camping and cookies with her troop.

Not that she doesn’t enjoy doing that, of course!

“What started as simply being a parent volunteer and cookie mom for my daughter’s troop transformed into something far more meaningful,” she said.

Role model

Amber decided to use her role as a volunteer to amplify their voices, nurture their growth, and create a space where they could develop essential life skills.

But even more important to her was creating a safe space where young girls feel free to grow, connect, and shine.

“Having fun is essential to our troop, but it’s woven into a deeper mission of building confident, capable young women,” says Amber.

Why I volunteer

For Amber, it’s seeing their eyes sparkle with excitement as they tackle a new craft project, compete in friendly games, or proudly earn their latest patches.

“The true reward lies in watching the remarkable transformations,” she said.

What I learned

As a leader, Amber isn’t afraid to have a (little) bit of chaos when leading her troop. She looks at that as a life lesson for her Girl Scouts.

“Take pride in the work you do, even in the messy, imperfect moments.” she said. “Actually, especially in those moments!”

“That’s when girls learn that it’s okay to try, fail, adjust, and try again. That’s when real growth happens.”

Some days, you might wonder if all the planning, organizing, and energy you pour into your troops really makes a difference. Let me tell you – it does. In ways you might not even see right now.
