Great memories and better views are just some of the reasons that Silvia Ruhl enjoys being a Girl Scout volunteer. A former Girl Scout herself, Silvia loves being a leader of her daughter’s Troop 78224. “I want to learn and grow alongside my daughter while sharing incredible adventures together,” she said.
Enjoying the Journey
For Silvia, one of her favorite parts of being leading the troop is seeing the excitement in the girls as they learn new things and earn badges.
Watching their eagerness trying new things and supporting one another makes every meeting and activity rewarding for Silvia.
“The moment when they earn a badge is priceless,” she said. “Seeing their confidence grow reminds me why I chose to volunteer.”
Good Goals
Silvia is currently putting together plans and activities to support the troops future goals. Whether it’s exploring nature, practicing leadership skills, or doing a creative project, watching their eagerness to try new things and support one another makes all the work rewarding for Silvia.
The troop also plans on having a lot of interaction with the community. “We want to make a difference in the lives of others through service projects.”
Great Views
Travel and adventures are big reasons Silvia got her daughter and herself involved in Girl Scouts.
Silvia recalls climbing the long, winding steps to the top of the Port Huron Lighthouse and the incredible views stretched out before them when the troop finally reached the top. “I saw the awe on my daughter’s face as we stood together at the top. It was an unforgettable moment and I am forever grateful that I get to share these experiences with her.”
